My most recent passion project has been designing and producing tote bags from secondhand materials. I salvage unique and nostalgic textiles from op-shops and get to work sewing them into reusable bags. Some of the products I’ve up-cycled into bags include tapestry placemats, polyester pants, pillowcases, quilt covers, cotton skirts, towels, and table cloths.
Many of these products could have ended up in landfill as they had holes, stains or were simply not being used anymore. Giving these waste materials a second life by transforming them into cute one of a kind bags promotes sustainability and avoids the purchase of plastic bags.
See below for some examples of my creations.
